Choosing the Right Database
Ball State University Libraries subscribes to over 130 different databases. So where do you start? A good way to choose a database is to consider the subject that you're researching. Knowing your subject matter and what you want to find out about it is the first step in picking place to start searching.
Many databases keep track of information in specific subject areas. For example, the PsycINFO database includes information in the field of psychology, while the ERIC database contains information about teaching, education, and related fields. There are also general databases that contain information in a variety of subject areas.
Universtiy Libraries' databases are arranged into broad subject categories as well as alphabetically. You can view the databases in a specific area of study by choosing a subject from the drop down menu. These lists will help you choose databases that cover the topic you're researching.
